How to turn off your water valve.

 

I have a few friends who had pipes burst and their homes flooded. When the heat starts to rise many may experience pipes bursting.

 

First locate the large “round” water manhole in front of your home. It’s either on your lawn or the sidewalk. I recommend ASAP (tonight) going outside with a flat head screwdriver and lift it off and lay it over the hole, so you can get to the valve immediately. Time is of the essence. Most don’t need a special key anymore. A flathead screwdriver should work.

 

Then locate the flat valve and with your crescent wrench, turn it forward so that it goes 90 degrees. (Flat). This turns off your water. It may take some effort. Then open up all your faucets to purge the remaining water!
